Classes of Mail • First Class Mails • Letters, Letter Cards and Post Cards • Free Air transmission wherever possible and advantageous • Second Class Mails • Other remaining articles • No free air transmission • Sender has to pay Air surcharge in addition to normal postage, if the article is to be sent by Air • Air surcharge (if airlift is required) • Up to 50 grams Rs.2 • Additional 50 grams or part Re.1

Cash on Delivery • Cash on Delivery facility is available for Express Parcel, Business Parcel and Speed Post customers • Conditions for COD • Customer is a contractual customer and has agreement with the Department for transmission Cash on Delivery articles • Amount specified for recovery from addressee in the case of any such postal article shall not exceed fifty thousand rupees (Rs. 50,000/-) and shall not include a fraction of rupee • Such articles do not contain coupons, tickets, certificates or introductions designed for the sale of goods on what is known as the “Snowball System”
Cash on Delivery • Insurance of Cash on Delivery articles is not compulsory • Amount, recovered from addressee on delivery is remitted to the sender through e Payment • In addition to postage , the sender has to pay an additional fee on delivery of COD article
