Andrew Jackson has impressive win for US @ Battle of New Orleans British lose & sign Treaty of Ghent in 1814

  3. James Monroe (1817-1825) 1818: Fixed northern border w/ British Canada Issues in Florida: lawless, Nat. Amer’s from FL attack Georgia Sends Gen Jackson to FL signs Adams-Onis Treaty, 1819 w/ Spain giving US Florida and outlined SW border (pg. 116) Issues in W. Hemisphere: Spain/Portugal trying to regain land, Russians encroaching on the west coast from Alaska. Monroe warned Europeans to stay out of the Western Hemisphere, issues Monroe Doctrine Yeah Boy! We kicked their butts again!
