  4. Vegetarian A vegetarian is someone who avoids eating theflesh of animals (meat, poultry, or fish, includingshellfish. Most vegetarians will also not eat eggsor cheese or use cosmetics or toiletries whichcontain animal ingredients or are tested onanimals. The word "vegetarian" coined around1842, comes not from "vegetable" but from theLatin word vegetus meaning "whole, fresh, full oflife". People are vegetarians for a number of reasons.Some think that it is wrong to keep and kill animalsfor use as food and in other products. Others chooseto be vegetarians because they believe that avegetarian diet is healthier than a diet that includesmeat. Indeed, a vegetarian diet fits in very well

Somepeople are vegetarian because of their religiousbeliefs. Some people have chosen to be vegetarianfor ecological reasons.
