Applications Engineer Salary - £29,000 Potential Route GCSE Product Design A Level Product Design Resistant Materials Design @ University Job description General technical support for UK and Scandinavian operations relating to our supply and service of Mechanical Seals , Couplings , Bearings and Filtration systems Provide product selections , calculations, design analysis including use of design tools such as FEA, Cstedy and CAD. Support dynamic testing of product including design of adaptive hardware through to finalised report. Technical support for manufacturing plant concession requests. Trouble shooting , root cause analysis , problem resolution in cases of product performance issues. Support sales team with estimates, orders technical reviews and customer presentations. Person requirements Strong practical and interpersonal skills Good work ethic – no “9 to 5 ers” Flexibility – willingness to travel Currently living within commute distance of our Manchester site Company information John Crane are part of the international Smiths Group - a Footsie 100 company headquarted in London. John Crane are a long established international manufacturer of mechanical seals , bearings,couplings and filtration systems principally to the Oil / Gas sector plus other industrial areas such as Chemical Processing and Pulp / Paper production. We also provide a range of Engineering / Technical services much of which relates to rotational machinery maintenance. Qualification and experience requirements HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Some previous experience with rotating equipment such as pumps , compressors , mixers or blowers. Proven experience with CAD (2D and 3D) and FEA packages Practical / craft skills – ability to strip , inspect and identify root cause of problems A second language (ideally a Scandinavian language) would be useful Accepted degree subjects engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical
