Graduation Team Graduation Team Members: Minimum recommended team = 5 • Graduation Coach (*) • School Administrator (*) • Counselor assigned to the student (*) • Advisor (*) (if TAA exists in school) • Teacher of Special Programs serving the Student (*) (SWD, ELL, SST Coordinator, etc.) • Other professional staff who teach/have taught the student • Parent/Student (optional)
Your Team • Select those colleagues who can be most influential in achieving your goals. • Public relations and diplomacy will be key factors in establishing the team! • The following key players are recommended:
The Principal • You MUST make sure your principal is aware of your role in his/her school, even if they are not a formal member of the graduation team. • Be very clear about your role and goals, or you may be subjected to roles that were not originally intended.
The Assistant Principal • The Assistant Principal can also lend credence to your mission and help identify academically at-risk students, as well as those with discipline and/or attendance problems.
Guidance Counselor(s) • They can help you identify youth and resources as well as track down data, transcripts, etc. • Senior counselors should be incredibly helpful. Work with them and you can free them of some of their tougher cases, while gaining valuable assistance.
Specialists • Academic Department Heads to assure academic assistance from teachers and tutors. • Testing Coordinators to help gather information. • Social Workers to develop strong case management, parent involvement, community resources and outside services.
Specialists • Special Education Coordinator(s): identify youth with special needs and help deliver services. • Teachers: their knowledge of the students and informal role as mentors is priceless.
Volunteers • Community Members • Local CIS Affiliates • Vocational Educators • College Programs • Interns • Retired Teachers • Parents/Students
