  7. Petersburg Angel is a small sculpture sitting on one of the benches in Izmailovsky Garden in Saint Petersburg Sculptor Roman Shustrov

  8. Roman Shustrov was born (1959) in St. Petersburg, Russia and he is in love with his home city and his work. His genre is a doll sculpture

  10. The sculpture was created for the Symposium on Urban sculpture, organized by the Urban Planning and Architecture Committee in 2012. Although it was the first experience of the artist with a bronze, it was a success. In addition, “Petersburg Angel” became one of the five winners at the symposium

  11. Roman Shustrov graduated from the prestigious Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1986. Since 1988 Shustrov started specializing in papier-mâché doll sculptures. Later on he became a lecturer on the genre at the Institute of Aplied Arts in St. Petersburg, and participated in the creation of a museum-gallery of original art toys and dolls

  28. Roman Shustrov is also a member of the International Organization of Doll Sculpture Artists (NIADA). His genre is a doll sculpture. His characters are always extraordinary. One of his angels - St. Petersburg’s one - is a nice old man, the other one wearing a pile is riding a bicycle.

  31. In the Shustrov’s world, every doll sculpture is endowed with an individual character and personality. The artist doesn’t repeat his creations; working in papier-mâché it’s practically impossible.

  32. Shustrov’s works can be found in private collections in Russia, Europe, and North America, some in the homes of international celebrities. Recently the artist has been invited by the city to create larger scale works in bronze for selected St. Petersburg locations

  34. March 3, 2021 St. Petersburg has unveiled a memorial to the medical workers who have died during the coronavirus pandemic. The bronze sculpture, called “The Sad Angel,” is the work of Roman Shustrov, who himself died of the coronavirus on May 14, 2020
