FY09 Key Achievements • Environmental and CSLM Subgroups developed protocol for greenhouse gas inventories required by EO 13514 • Electrical Safety Subgroup conducted training on the Electrical Severity Measurement Tool; submitted the DOE Electrical Safety Handbook for review and developed a best practice publication for the performance of Arc Flash calculations and labeling

  3. FY09 Key Achievements Industrial Hygiene and Safety Subgroup organized an Exposure Assessment Task Group to review the draft DOE-HQ Exposure Assessment Technical Standard; sponsored a new Laser Safety Task Group and a Nanotechnology Task Group CSLM Subgroup co-sponsored the Joint EFCOG/DOE Chemical Management Workshop; published several journal articles

FY09 Key Achievements • Radiological Protection Subgroup chartered 3 task teams to address issues associated with implementing 10CFR835 (Pu-241, Neutron QF) and the proposed DOE Order 458.1(IV) • Occupational Medicine Subgroup established a platform for Wellness Program Managers to collaborate; provided a forum to discuss H1N1/pandemic issues; adopted Be LPT interpretation guidelines; developed consensus statement on chelation

  5. FY 10 Key Achievements To Date • Working with EFCOG Board, identified a leader and provided the venue for an ARRA Project Team planning meeting • Developed recommendations on improvements/clarifications for the next issuance of DOE Notice 456.1. (The Safe Handling of Unbound Engineered Nanoparticles) • Chartered a task group to develop leading indicators and safety metrics

  6. FY10 Forecast of Activities • Support Worker Health & Safety subteam of the ARRA Project Team • Establish ties with ISM WG (e.g. safety culture) • Continue sharing lessons learned on safety oversight of nanotechnology activities • Coordinate joint meetings with IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop and DOE Chemical Management Workshop

  7. FY 10 Forecast of Activities • Develop leading indicators and safety metrics • Continue reviewing DOE Technical Standard for Exposure Assessment • Document Best Practices • Participate on ARRA Project Team • Support 2010 DOE ISM Champions Workshop

  8. Collaboration with other WGs • Initiated collaboration with Human Capital group (health and productivity surveys and talent pool) • Environmental Subgroup collaborated with Energy & Infrastructure WG at the Federal Environmental Symposium

  9. Problems/Issues • Meeting location that facilitates DOE, contractor as well as other WG participation • Succession planning for WG and Subgroup Leadership positions
