Diversity • Refers to the great variety of people and their backgrounds, experiences, opinions, religions, ages, talents and abilities.
Prejudices • Negative biases or feelings, towards people of a particular ethnicity or culture and are not based on fact.
Stereotype • Assumption that all members of a group fit the same pattern.
Cultural Tendencies • Common beliefs, such as religion or a common way of acting.
Modeling • Setting the example of appropriate behavior. • Who should do this? The Manager Good model or not so good model?

Questions that can not be asked • Race • Ethnic background • Country of origin • Former or maiden name • Parents’ names • Languages other than English (unless a second language is required) • Prior arrests – convictions can be asked about • Marital status • Children or plans to have children, child care • Spouse information • Religion • Credit history or personal finances • Disabilities, unless directly related to the job • Height, weight, hair color, etc…
