T1008 status W.Baldini for the Ferrara and PadovaSuperB-IFR Group
The Prototype Iron Active Layers (Pizza Boxes) Prototype • Iron: 60x60x92 cm3, 9 slots for the active layers • up to 9 active layers readout together • 4 Time Readout (TDC-RO) “standard “ • 4 Binary Readout (BiRo) “standard” • 4 special modules to study different • fibers or SiPM geometry Active Layer (“pizza box”)
Summary of activities and plans for next days • Installation and setting up: July 13-19 • Security walkthrough: July 19, first beam: July 20 • So far we have taken data at 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 GeV: • Tue 27 – Wed 28: main injector intervention, evacuate Cherenkov from N2 and start filling with C4F8O • Start @ 8 GeV, with low pressure and then increase the pressure and decrease the energy:
Cherenkov pressure scan: 8 GeV (N2) Expected pion thres.: 7.5 psi Expected muon thres.: 4.3 psi (cher1xS1xS2) counts/ beam counts N2 Pressure (psi)
Cherenkov pressure scan: 6 GeV Exp. Muonthres. : 7.7 psi Exp. Muonthres.: 13.4 psi Normalized Cherenkov counts Normalized S1xS2xC1 counts
Cherenkov pressure scan: 4 GeV Exp. Muon thres: 17.3 psi
Time Of Flight Essentially no differences from 1 to 6 GeV Expected mu-pi time difference (assuming ~20m distance): - 1 GeV : ~ 230 ps - 2 GeV: ~ 60 ps - 3 GeV ~ 13 ps - TOF exp. Resolution: 30 ps
First results Efficiency @ 3.5 p.e. Threshold scan @ 8 GeV
