In today’s society teens in high school’s all across the country face the pressure of being accepted by their peers. In many cases they are pushed into experimenting and using drugs.
The Most Common Drug • One of the most commonly talked about drugs inHigh school that I have heard is Marijuana, known to young teens as “weed” • What a lot of kids don’t understand is Marijuana can affect your body in many ways over time!
One of the main reasons marijuana is so common among young teens is because this particular drug is cheap and easy to get a hold of if you are associated with the wrong crowd!
What do you know about Marijuana? “ I heard from someone that it makes you smarter!” -Unknown student In reality this drug can have an affect on your brain. It impairs your ability to think, concentrate and can highly affect your short-term memory while under the influence of the drug. This leads to poor decisions that can get teens in a lot of trouble!
Common Myths of Marijuana Myth: You can’t get addicted to marijuana. You CAN get addicted, today’s pot is 10 times stronger and more addictive. More teens enter treatment for marijuana dependence than all other illegal drugs! Myth: Parents can’t stop their teens from experimenting with marijuana. Even if parents don’t know it, when it comes to drugs they are the most powerful influence on their children. When parents talk to their children about the dangers of drugs they show them how much they really care.
Cocaine • Another drug that I hear about is cocaine or known to young teens as “crack” • This can be snorted, injected or smoked, and no matter what method is used they all do the same harm to your body! • Not only does it involve severe health problems but it could increase the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
There are many more drugs that are common among teens in High School but there is a drug that not many teens are aware of and have not even heard of and that is…

Desomorphine AKA Krokodile -Invented in 1932 in the United States -This is around 8 to 10 times more powerful than morphine -Cheaper alternative to heroin -$6 to $8 per injection -This drug is easily made from codeine, iodine, lighter fluid, industrial cleaning fluid, paint thinner, gasoline and red phosphorus
More About Desomorphine -This drug is primarily used by heroin addicts that can no longer afford heroin -Its available in the market for a greatly reduced price -First appeared in Russia and continues to spread rapidly -This deadly drug is easy for them to make because codeine pills are widely available in Russia without a prescription.
Side Effects • It causes major… -Brain damage -Tissue damage -Deterioration of interal organs such as kidneys and livers -The amount of tissue damage is so high that addicts life expectancies are said to be as low as 2 to 3 years!
Used - Users Inject into a vein in the hand, arm, leg or groin area • After injection small bumps begin to appear around the injection site • Followed by scaling and discoloration of flesh (red, black, brown) • Skin scales up, tissue rots and starts to deteriorate and peel off • All this can lead to amputation of limbs
Addiction • As of now Russia is believed to have over 1,000,000 people using krokodile and there have already been some cases of this found in the United States! • I feel that this should be talked about more among teens so that this DEADLY drug does not affect the U.S. population as it already has in Russia!
