  2. The Leopard’s Habitat • Leopards live in forests, mountains, grasslands, and deserts. • They also like to sleep in dense bushes in rocky surroundings and forest rivers.

  3. Leopard Physical Characteristics • Strong legs • Sharp teeth • Tan fur • The classification is mammal, more specifically Panthura pardus

  4. Use of Physical Characteristics • The strong legs are used to leap. • The tan fur is used to blend in. • The sharp teeth are used to kill and hunt.

  5. Behaviors of Leopards • Leopards are nocturnal. • They prefer to live alone. • Leopards growl, roar, and purr.

  6. Use of Behaviors • Leopards are nocturnal because most of their prey are active at night.  • They prefer to live alone because if they live in packs they are afraid that the others will eat their food.  • They make these noises to show emotion. 

  7. Inheritance of Leopards • They inherit their likeness for the taste of birds, impala, antelope, and sometimes the taste for monkeys.  • They also inherit the ability to climb trees. 

  8. Environmentally-Influenced Traits • The leopard climbs a tree to protect it’s food from the jackals. • When leopards are domestic, they usually go out and hunt squirrels and deer.

  9. Acquired Traits • Leopards are taught to climb trees. • Leopards are taught to eat meat.

  10. Did You Know…? • Leopards hang dead carcass in the trees.
