5. groups in Texas • Many different types of people lived in Texas • Italian, France, Swedish, Norwegians, Greeks, Dutch, Irish, Slavic. • These groups brought their language, clothing styles, foods, religions, and music.

6. African Americans • after the civil war their were more than 180,000 free Africans Americans living in Texas. • With them being free they kind of invented their own culture. Like their music they had : blues, jazz and rag. • Their own food called “soul food “ • They had their own type of art; African Americans were some of the most famous artis

7. Germans • When they came to the state it was because of it was over crowded and no room for farming so they came to Texas. • The settled across the south central Texas. People called that area “ the German Belt “

8. Asian Americans • the U.S. law limited the number of Chinese people living in a state in the early 1900s • They allowed only 500 Asians in America • They brought their culture to America • They fod became famous all over the country
