Background - Naomi • I have shown Goats for 8 years. • My parents started a milking goat business; I am involved in the management and breeding decision making. • I plan to have a career in the goat business.
Background - Petunia • I have shown Dairy for 4 years. • I have always leased my project from another producer. Other than the summer time, I am not around the dairy animals. • My future plans are unknown.
Background – Adam • I have shown Poultry for 10 years • I am involved because my parents make me. • I always got beat in the show ring with my meat chickens so I started raising breeding chickens.

Buffy-Horse (Before the fair) • Before the fair I assist in all management of the horses • I clean out the stalls, twice a week as compared to the needed once a day.
Naomi – Goats (Before the fair) • Before the fair I assist with the kidding by tagging and castrating. • I assist with needed vaccinations and I do the milking. • Record keeping is taken very seriously with accurate information.
Petunia – Dairy (Before the fair) • Before the fair all of the paperwork is done by the farmer I lease from. • The producer put the animal’s birthdate as January 1, 2010 when it was really born on December 15, 2009
Adam – Poultry (Before the fair) • Before the fair I had a great December hatch crop. • I tried to get January hatches because of the rule of being born after January 1st . • They didn’t lay until January so I got February hatches.

Buffy-Horse (At the Fair) • At the fair I come with my parents when they bring the horses. • I assist in setting up the tack area. • I also assist with new/young members by helping them clip their horses.
Naomi – Goats (At the Fair) • At the fair I monitor my goats so they have enough water and feed frequently throughout the day. • I am approachable to answer fair goers questions.
Petunia – Dairy (At the fair) • The farmer brings my cattle to the fair, while I am at basketball camp. • I check the animal in the morning and at night, otherwise I am not at the fair. • I don’t take my turn in the club’s herdsmanship rotation.
Adam – Poultry (At the fair) • At fair time my February hatches were going through an ugly stage • My December hatch was adult size and at top peak. • So I took the December hatch but the documentation from the February hatch. • I carry and handle my birds in a neat manner. • I believe my birds are tops

Buffy-Horse (Judging) • During judging I receive Grand Champion of the 2010 fair. • My horsemanship skills were tremendous.
Naomi – Goats (Judging) • During the judging my animals were cooperative and very well trained. • My animal’s place respectfully and I am very grateful. • I thank the judge before he leaves.
Petunia – Dairy (Judging) • On judging day I arrive from basketball camp just in time to lead my animal into the ring. • My animal doesn’t cooperate while it is in the ring. • My animal places last in class, I am mad and I proceed to hit my animal.
Adam – Poultry (Judging) • After the judge examines my birds, they receive a red ribbon. • There was something wrong with the color pattern. • I was furious, so I grabbed the bird by the legs and let it hang upside down. Then I stuffed the bird back into the cage. • I didn’t check on my birds until it was time to leave the fairgrounds.
