Are metal gaskets made with three key elements. 1) A metal spiral winding which is spot welded on the OD and ID.

  2. 2) A seal filler material to go between the winding layers. This material must be compatible with the application the spiral wound gasket is meant to seal. 3) An optional Outer guide ring (which is most common) an inner ring (for vacuum applications) or both for applications with pressure and vacuum.
