  2. Opener: Think about your PRIOR knowledge about the states of matter. Answer the following questions to the BEST of your ability. A pot of SNOW is placed on a hot stove-top for awhile. What will happen? A phase is a state of matter, such as a solid, liquid, gas, or plasma. Which phases would you see while observing the pot of snow on the stove? A phase change, is a change from one phase to another. Which phase change(s) would you see in the pot on the stove? (hint: there are five total phase changes: evaporation, condensation, melting, freezing and sublimation)
