What’s Worked Well Monthly Lunches Boat Cruises Tech Week Reception Desired Changes Boat Cruise during Tech Week? Might conflict with Tech Week activities Planning/Brainstorming
New Suggestions Theater Night Quarterly Activity/Event – Social / Cultural- Entertainment Quarterly or Semi-Annual Events in various Regions- Themes, ie Nat Coming Out - Need regional people to run event- Empower people to use QNET to post ideas- Board encourage members to head regional activities Potluck Dinner New Suggestions Organizing an event around an LGBT non-profit – fundraiser or volunteer activity Happy Hour – Local and Regional Dallas has high tech happy hour for MIT alum. Many attendees. Not great to combine with BGALA, but separate event might work Alumni office travels across country. Use them to help support regional development Planning/Brainstorming
New Suggestions Look into other LGBT groups that may have members to publicize BGALA. i.e. Prime Timers Put together a calendar of events going on across the regions and mail it out as part of newsletter. HGLC produces LGBT newsletter covering political and current events. Possibly share with members. Shorter newsletter with title and link to article on our website. New Suggestions Use affinity groups within MIT QNET for regions, lesbian membership, courses (ie Sloan LGBT), Staff LGBT Issues Group has representation from BGALA. Stan can ask them what they would recommend for increasing women's membership in BGALA Start pointing out to undergrads that they will enter alumni path. Create event around professor visiting San Diego – Lorna Gibson, Chair of faculty senate. Other LGBT Faculty traveling for Alumni Assoc. Planning/Brainstorming
