Future Focus of SD in Sarteneja • We found that the environmental factor is most important and the common bond within this population • Small actions first – compost (then can be used as fertilizer) • Replace dumps with landfills - No burning trash – more recylcing • Education for locals about Environmental SD • Start programs in schools for children • Long term sustainable outcome plan: • Once education of SD is widely accepted – Implement specific rules/laws • Limit waste – recycle more • Community efforts (like Maya Center)
