SANTINO’S RED KIDNEY BEANS. PROBLEM. Will a red kidney bean grow faster with or without sunlight?. HYPOTHESIS.

PROBLEM • Will a red kidney bean grow faster with or without sunlight?
HYPOTHESIS I believe that the red kidney bean plant will not grow with out sunlight I believe this because I learned that a plant needs food, water, and sunlight in order for it to live. If the plant does not get sunlight it will not be able to make food so it will die.
MATERIALS Measuring cup Ruler markers and pencils Soil Water H2o Beans Tape Pot greenhouse
PROCEDURE • Pour soil into a pot . • Place 5 red kidney beans into the soil. • Cover the beans with soil. • Pour 2 ounces of water in the soil • Place the pot in the classroom’s greenhouse.
DATA • During my experiment I prepared two plants. I put one in the greenhouse the other in a closet. I checked each plant everyday. I watered the soil and measured the growth of the plants. • I noticed that the plant that was in the closet was not growing . The plant that was in the green house had to get water more often, and it grew very fast. The plant in the closet did not need much water. The plant got moldy and died. It did not do much of anything.
CONCLUSION My hypothesis was correct. The red kidney beans that were not in the sunlight had a hard time growing. The one that was in the greenhouse grew in two weeks . This happened is because the plant could not do something that is very important, Photosynthesis. Without sunlight the plant could not make its food. It took about two weeks for the plant in the closet to die.
