  1. What will your child be learning in the Spring Term ? Literacy: In Literacy this term we will be learning about traditional stories, myths, legends and fables. We will also be looking at imagery in river poetry. Our non-fiction focus is non-chronological reports and explanation texts, closely linked with our science and geography topics. Numeracy: This term in Numeracy we will be consolidating work from all the 5 blocks (A-E) and applying understanding to multi – step problems. Other foci will include: area and perimeter of compound shapes, solving problems involving time, ratio and proportion, reflective symmetry and measuring angles. R.E. The focus topics for this term are: The Local Church, Eucharist, Lent and Easter. Science: In Science we cover a different topic each half term. The topics for the Spring term have a Chemistry focus – Gases around us and Changing States. A Creative Curriculum Did you know that children learn best when their learning is linked? This is why we will be learning all about Rivers through lots of different subjects. ICT: We will be using Microsoft Excel to analyse and present data on the world’s main rivers and Microsoft PowerPoint to give presentations to the class on a river we have researched in depth. Geography: We will be exploring river features and how rivers shape the land. We will also be learning about how rivers affect people and about environmental concerns such as river pollution. Art & DT: We will be creating river artwork using a range of media such as water colours and collage.
