(brief) Update on the target facility M. Calviani, on behalf of the CENF SBWG team CENF PTM meeting – 5th February 2014
Updates on integration work Mass 35t • Upgrades on the support module design • Detail about the air tightness • A new designer (V. Clerc) will start working in the overall integration S. Girod
Outstanding items • Target cost very high due to reduced horn inner conductor (IC) diameter (24 mm Ø) • Future mechanical studies will assume the possibility of a 30 mm IC Ø(MiniBooNE) • Preliminary neutrino studies have been performed for this config. 24 + 12 mm Ø 30 + 12 mm Ø
Complete extraction system CV M. Battistin, M. Archambault
Cooling circuits in the cooling room Horn & Reflector Cooling: 17-22 °C Shield + 2xHelium cooling: 27-> °C M. Battistin, M. Archambault
CV further feedbacks • Hydraulic circuits under completion • AL capable of executing a conceptual design of a purification system for the CENF helium vessel • He purity in the order of 1% can be reached with a single membrane circuit • He purity in the order of 0.1% can be reached with a double cascade membrane circuit (PRESENT REFERENCE) • He purity in the order of the ppm (or more) requires active carbons, silica gel and cryogenic trap technology. M. Battistin
Radioprotection aspects C. Strabel • Input for dump design (waste zoning) • Air contamination for the He vessel (1%, 0.1% and ppm)
Dump (1st and 2nd) installation • 2 solutions proposed by EN/HE • “open trench” solution • Installation with blocks on baskets • After an ensuing discussions a hybrid solution with the first dump installed via a vertical shaft will be further investigated R. Rinaldesi, C. Bertone
