Last eight years we have been working in Dam instrumentation and provided solutions to old problems of data collection, sensors’ diagnosis and read out, Digitizing of Inclination/ deflection meter, retrieving uplift pressure cells ,VPD Reopening with special machines ,underwater video shooting , dam gallery low voltage safe lighting systems , upgradation of seismic instruments etc. We have also delivered lecturers for Meri and the similar institutes for guidelines In the field of geo instrumentation. Choking up of Vertical Porous Drain Pipes (VPD) 1.Heavy Duty Hydraulic Drilling Machine for Upward Directional Drilling 2.Reactivated Vertical Porous Drain Pipe(VPD) Innovative Methods Adopted to Tackle Above Problems:- It is observed that in downward drilling process the new hole does not match with the original VPD and does not open out in the gallery, instead travels in the walls of the gallery further defeating the very purpose. So Vertically Upward Drilling from the gallery of the dam towards the top of the dam has been adopted. The work is carried out with powerful hydraulic machines designed to fit in the gallery. It can drill upto 75m in the upward direction and maintain verticality.
23. Non-functioning of Drain holes in the Foundation Gallery Reasons:- Drain holes are drilled at a certain inclination, due to which cleaning of leaching material / grout material is not possible. High power machinery for deep holes cannot be used for inclined drilling due to restricted space in Gallery. Problems Arising : Uplift pressures are induced on the base of the dam which can lead to problems tot he safety of the dam structure. Innovative Methods Adopted to Tackle Above Problems:- An Innovative method has been devised for cleaning of Drain Holes. Flexible shafts rotating at very high speeds with special cutting tools and a movable trolley are used for the above mentioned work. The machine can drill at any inclination and in a very restricted area of working.

Non-Functioning of Uplift Pressure Cells Innovative Methods Adopted to Tackle Above Problems:- An Innovative method has been devised for cleaning of the Uplift Pressure Cell Pipes which are very small in diameter and which have 90 degree elbows. A high pressure compressed air along with special chemicals is pumped in the pipes and a system is kept for flushing. This dissolves the blocked material. Pipes are internally cleaned for normal operations. Till date this is the only successful method employed.
27. Choking up of Gravity Drain Pipes Reasons:- Grout Material Travelling inside Gravity Drain Pipes Due to Leaching action of the dissolved Calcium and Salts in the water. Problems Arising : flooding of Drainage Galleries Burning up of VT Pumps & Submersible Pumps. Non-Access to Gallery for any Maintenance Job. Innovative Methods Adopted to Tackle Above Problems:- An Innovative method has been devised for cleaning of Gravity Drain Pipes. A high speed portable and heavy duty drilling machine has been designed for drilling in horizontal and inclined directions. Machine can be mounted on raised platforms. Further chemicals are introduced for making the inner surface of the pipe smooth so that further accumulation of leaching material can be arrested 2.Removed Grout & Leaching Material 1.Machine on Raised Platform 3.Reactivated Gravity Drain Pipe.
