  1. Regional Mass Casualty Support Units MCI Supplies for Large Scale EMS Incidents

Overview The purpose of this program is to inform providers of the availability of the Regional Mass Casualty Support Units (RMCSU) that are available for use in each EMS region for supporting the EMS activities of a large scale incident. This program has been designed to give a global perspective of the RMCSUs.

  3. Introduction • Where did the RMCSU come from? • Joint venture between the Department of Public Health and the five regional EMS Councils • Purchased by DPH with HRSA monies • Registered to regional EMS council • Hosted by individual provider services

  4. Purpose of RMCSU • Why were the trailers developed? • Who staffs and deploys the RMCSU? • When can the RMCSU be used? • Where can the RMCSU be used?

  5. RMCSU Supplies • The supplies within the RMCSU were designed to help support the EMS functions of an MCI. • Categories of Supplies • Treatment • 50 adult backboards, 25 peadiatric backboards, soft supplies, O2 tanks and equipment, cervical collars, etc.. • Incident Management • Generator, MCI kit, tent, tools, trailer, CMED radio

  6. Communications • Does the RMCSU have communications equipment? • What would the radio be utilized for? • Should these communications be used outside the ICS system?

  7. Deployment • Can the RMCSU be pre-staged for large events? • Can the RMCSU be deployed for MCI training? • How are the RMCSUs deployed or activated? • How large of an incident?

  8. Demobilization • What happens to the RMCSU after the incident?

  9. Restocking • How are the RMCSUs restocked after an incident?

  10. Drills • So the RMCSU can be used in a drill, how? • What about After-Action Reports (AAR)?

  11. Incidents • I requested the RMCSU, now what do I get? • Are their rules to deploy the unit on-scene? • Who do the staff report to? • After-Action Reports (AAR)?
