C. Later Japan • 1. By the late 1400’s, the Shogunate had collapsed • 2. Last of the great unifiers: Tokugawa Ieyasu. He was a powerful daimyo who took the title of shogun in 1603. He brought a long period of peace… known as the … “Great Peace”. • 3. During this time of great peace, the first Europeans arrived • 4. By 1750, Japan began to have flourishing trade and industry.
