PLTW Engineering Courses • 9th – Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) • 10th – Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA) • 11th – Principles of Engineering (POE) • 12th – Engineering Design and Development Senior Capstone (EDD) Concurrent Courses: • Algebra I and Biology I or higher • Geometry and Chemistry I or higher • Algebra 2 and Physics I or higher • Pre-Cal/Statistics/Calculus and Level 2 Science or Anatomy and Physiology

PLTW Course Breakdowns • 1/3 Mathematics • Unit Conversions • Beam Analysis • Statistics • 1/3 Science • Materials Selection • Force/Mass/Acceleration • Thermodynamics • 1/3 Technology • Inventor CAD Software • Revit Architecture Software • RobotC Programming Software • 1/3 Interactive Lessons and Discussion • 1/3 Hands-On Labs • 1/3 Digital Prototypes and Technical Drawings

Grading and Engineering Notebooks Notebook Grading Guidelines: • Daily Assignments (20%) • Includes handouts, instant challenges, computer activities, etc. with open notebook assistance, formula cards, calculators, and teamwork • Quizzes (40%) • All are independent with open notebook assistance, formula cards, and a calculator • Tests/Projects (40%) • No notebooks, but will still have a formula card and calculator
