  3. What is wrong with our Traditional Power Grid? • Not adequate for future demands. • Highly depending upon fossil fuels. • Does not support automatic control features. • Not compatible with liberal market.

  5. Smart Grids • Main Advantages: • Renewable energy resources Integration. • Self Healing procedures. • Secure connection between energy suppliers and consumers. All these advantages requires the existence of reliable and secure communication system.

  6. Why we need green communications? • Power consumed by the wireless infra structure represents 0.5% of the overall human energy consumption. • The transmission of 1 bit corresponds to the emission of 34g of carbon dioxide. • The increase in the future demand of high capacity and secure communication systems.
