Yellowstone National Park • Oldest national park in the world • Established in 1872 • Covers more than 2.2 million acres of land • Points of Interest • Geysers • Hot spring that shoots out hot water in the air • More than 10,000 hot springs and geysers • Old Faithful • Most famous geyser • Erupts every 45-110minutes
Geysers • Old Faithful sends a stream of boiling water hundreds of feet into the air. • There are so many hot springs because it is located over a “hot spot” where magma lies close to the Earth’s surface. Magma heats underground water that rises to the surface.
