Leadership Update • FGDC Chair • Anne Castle, DOI Assistant Secretary for Water & Science, departed in September • Jennifer Gimbel – DOI Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Water and Science • Served as Anne’s Counsel in 2013 • Leading the ongoing priorities established by Anne • Official designation of FGDC Chair pending from the Secretary • OMB’s FGDC Vice Chair position is also awaiting a new designee • NGAC Chair • Bob Austin – current term as NGAC chair expires December 2014 • Designation of 2015 NGAC Chair currently under review at DOI
Geospatial Platform Support Contract • USGS awarded the Geospatial Platform support contract in September 2014 • Three vendors have been selected: • Ardent Management Consulting • Image Matters, LLC • Five-9 Group, Inc. • 5-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with options for multiple task orders • Current Task Orders are: • PMO Support (Ardent) • GeoPlatform technical support – development, operations, and maintenance (Image Matters) • Began work and transition in October 2014
Geospatial Platform Support Contract • Contract provides support for: • Task orders related to the Geospatial Platform and FGDC support • Task orders from Partner agencies • For work supporting or related to the Geospatial Platform • Currently in the short and long-term planning and coordination stage, with on-going Platform operational support
2014 GAO Engagement • 2014 GAO Engagement (311299) – Geospatial Data • 2014 issues under review: • Implementation status of 2012 actions • NSDI Strategic Plan • NGDA Management Plan • Types of geospatial data selected federal agencies and States are acquiring • Extent to which selected federal agencies and States invest in potentially duplicative geospatial data • Focus on imagery and addresses • GAO interviewed representatives from 5 States • MD, OH, SC, MT, WA
2014 GAO Engagement – Next Steps Projected timeline: • GAO is completing final draft report • November 2014 - GAO provided Statement of Facts to agencies for their review and response – exit meetings held in mid-November • December 2014 - GAO to provide draft report to participating agencies with a 30-day comment and response period • February 2015 – GAO to release final report Follow-up: • FGDC may seek NGAC feedback/comment on responses to GAO report, as needed (per 2015 guidance).
