ExCom Offsite Meeting 4/15-16 • National Geospatial Policy/Strategy • FGDC Governance and Communication • Economic Recovery • Data Issues
National Geospatial Policy/Strategy • AGREEMENT: • Executive Committee will sponsor formulation of a National Geospatial Policy/Strategy and seek needed political support • ACTIONS: • Create Executive Summary 1-pager with key messages on the National Geospatial Policy proposal • Identify strategies to use social media approaches to inform development of National Geospatial Policy • Develop initial concept for Shared Infrastructure
FGDC Governance and Communication • ACTIONS: • Summarize discussion of governance ideas from ExCom meeting and share with Coordination Group • Coordinate joint meeting of Executive Committee and Coordination Group, possibly at June Coordination Group off-site • Establish FGDC collaboration site • Support work areas for all WG/SC initiatives • Provide better access to materials/minutes • AGREEMENTS: • Other SAOGIs (principals only) are welcome to attend ExCom meetings • ExCom meeting notes will be sent to the Steering Committee and Coordination Group
Economic Recovery • AGREEMENTS: • Endorsed in concept a set of criteria for assessing proposals • Identified priorities for any future stimulus funding opportunity (Imagery, Elevation, Parcel Data, Infrastructure) • Embraced these priorities as a “Big Hairy Audacious Goal” to create a National GIS regardless of future recovery/stimulus funding
Data Issues • IFTN • ACTION: Schedule Joint IFTN Champions & Chairs Meeting to discuss and resolve outstanding IFTN policy issues • Alaska Elevation • ACTION: Steve Wallach will make site visit to Alaska and report back to Executive Committee • ACTION: Executive Committee Members will reach out within respective agencies to query for interest and potential funding for Alaska Elevation
