How is the Scouting Program Delivered? • Monthly outdoor activities • Hiking, camping, snow-camping, biking, fishing, rock-climbing, white water rafting, canoeing, etc. • Leadership & Challenges • Activities for different ages and skill levels • Boy Lead • Each event has a Scout-in-Charge (SIC) and an Adult-in-Charge (AIC) • Exploration and learning through earning merit badges • More than 120 to choose from

  12. Boys Lead Boys • Troop is formed by patrols • Each patrol has a patrol leader (PL). Each scout performs a patrol job (phoner, scribe, …) to keep the patrol function • Patrol leaders report to Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) – the leader of the troop • SPL leads the troop with the help of his staff (Scribe, Quartermaster, Instructor, …) • Monthly campout is planned and executed by Scouts in Charge (SIC) • Adults (Scout Master and Assistant Scout Masters) provide guidance, safety

Why T453 – Our Focus • Quality activities for scouts of all skill levels • Monthly campouts, hiking, biking… • Week-long summer camp and leadership camps… • 7-10 day high adventures (wilderness hiking in New Mexico, wilderness canoeing in Minnesota/Canada, scuba diving/water activities in Florida) • Many events to provide ample opportunities for • Younger scouts to learn and explore • Older scouts to lead, guide, and set examples • A new scout patrol with designated Troop Guides to help new scouts get started • Quality adult leadership • 100% trained adult leaders • More than 20 Assistant Scout Masters (ASMs) • - Fun for boys, adults, and the whole family

  16. Schedule • Troop Meeting: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays • Committee Meeting: 2nd Wednesdays • Patrol Leaders Council: 4th Wednesdays • Campout: Once each month, Usually Saturday through Sunday noon • Patrol Meeting: Patrol Leader decides when and where, usually 2 PM each month on the weekends

  19. Participation • Scouting is a great place for youth to learn • We believe the more you and your boy participate, the more the boy learn • Troop 453 encourages both boy and parents participate scouting activities

  20. Scout Participation • Encourage boys in middle school age participate the majority of the meetings and events • Build bonding through overnight camping • Advance ranks quicker to build confidence • Take patrol, troop, and SIC jobs to practice leadership

  21. Parent Participation • Encourage parents involve in CM or SM/ASM team to help the troop run • Make a good role model for your son • Understanding Scouting faster can help your boy better • Capture memorable moments with your son • Bond to other parents through activities
