Biotechnology/Communication Age: Enter – The Fourth Wave The fourth wave has begun. Dr. Dede (2008) believed that the fourth wave will be the communication age and Dr. Thornburg believed the fourth wave would exist through biotechnology. However, the emergence of the biotechnology age and the communication age is apparent in our society and daily lifestyles. From online payment websites that meets the needs of the consumer to online education that allows for diversity and creativity, the growth of communication is evident. Similarly, from stem cell research to renewable energy, biotechnology is making a profound presence. Therefore, it can be concluded that the fourth wave, unlike the three previous waves, will be a combination of two ages that will coexist as one.
