Introduction • Hypothesis & Objective • Methodology • Review policies • Computer Simulation Result and Analysis • Conclusion • Further Study
Hypothesis & Objective • building floor plan evolved due to the change of policies • help future high-rise residential developments.
Methodology • Study the change of Hong Kong building regulation for ventilation. • Study layout plan for the high-rise residential development changed in these years • Computer Simulation • Analysis and discuss the result of the policies
Computer Simulation Result and Analysis • 70s ~ 80s • community providing basic facilities • high percentage of Usable floor area • two to three bedrooms without bay window • daylight factor for the normally occupied room • providing a more mentally healthy environment • No large area of stagnant after building
Computer Simulation Result and Analysis • 90s • PNAP APP-019 bay window exemption of GFA • View • Align balconies and bay windows. • Requirement of ventilation for bathroom and kitchen • turbulences occurring in the open air space
Computer Simulation Result and Analysis • 2000s • PNAP APP-098 mechanical-vent for bathroom • Compressed, irregular layout plan • have a large stagnant area • air flow no longer symmetric • amplified wind zone,
Conclusion • layout plan designs changed to suit the new policies • Grey areas being used against the intention of the policies • Latest completed building is not ventilation friendly
Further Study • Other aspect of building: • Building Height • Building Separation • Orientation • Master Layout • 3D model study • Wind tunnel experiment
