1. Chairman’s Report • Membership • 2014 AGM – 280 players • 2015 AGM – 315 players • 2016 AGM - 357 players • 2017 AGM – 332 players • 2018 AGM – 361 players
1. Chairman’s Report • On the pitch success • MAKOS Colts – League winners, Cup semi-finalists • Under 16s – Plate finalists • Under 15s – Lisbon international festival winners. Cup winners • Under 14s – Shield winners • Under 13s – Cup winners and Shield finalists • Under 12s – Cup semi-finalists • Under 11s - played 10 games with 9 wins and 1 draw. 46 tries for and only 6 against • Under 10s - won more than we lost • Under 9s - played 15 games, won 13, drew 1, lost 1 • Under 8s - only lost 4 games all day. The festival confirmed how strong our squad is compared to other clubs • Under 7s - held our own against some good teams

2c Summary of financial performance • M&J financial position remains healthy and better than budget • Subscriptions (our key income source) in line with budget • £6.6k net income from M&J Festival • Reversal of fund raising policy from Spring Ball increased income by £6,600 versus budget • Food income of £1.6k disappointing due to poor weather for September BBQ’s • Additional unbudgeted one-off fund raising of £1,800 (mainly shirt sponsorship from prior season) • Most running expenses in line with or better than budget • Additional expenses on 3G hire of £1k due to poor weather season • Additional investments in equipment £2.5k for mower (plus £1k contribution from Touch Rugby); £2,850 sand for Wall Bank Road; £1,950 remedial works on floodlights • £18.5k invested last summer for club re-wire • Year-end cash balance of £16,500 • Holding c.£2,000 on behalf of Touch Rugby

Budget for 2018/19 • Proposal to “balance the books” during the year • No increase in membership fees! • Increase in fund raising income due to revised allocation policy with senior club for fireworks and spring ball • £5k set aside to replace shirts due to ageing nature of our kit • No first aid costs following a decision to not use a physio • 3G hire costs limited to £2k • £2k available for general maintenance • £25k available for club capital projects, but subject to success of fireworks and spring ball • Membership £100 if paid before end Sept 2018 • £110 if paid after September • Much lower than other rugby clubs and much, much lower than cricket or football clubs • Season 8 months/year – typically 28 playable weekends • Turns out £3.57 a game…..training is free!
