    4. GENERAL ROLE OF A COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE: Community health nurse assumes a variety of roles. These include: Care provider (Functional role) In community health practice, providing nursing care is different than in hospitals. This is because the target of service expands beyond the individual to include families, groups, and communities.
