Cheerleader SOPs • M.I.L.C-motivate, inspire, lead, cheer!!! • ROAR Behavior-Do what is right! *Someone is always watching. • Listen and follow the coaches’/captains directions. • Attendance is mandatory. • On time is 10 minutes early. • Always be ready to cheer! • Participate in every fundraiser.

  4. GPA- STUDENT athletes • You must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater in order to participate in cheerleading. • Failure to do so will result in automatic dismissal from the squad. • Parents we realize that your expectations may not be the same- we just ask for some advance notice if you are considering pulling your child from cheer. Our preference no D’s or F’s. • Progress reports will be requested as needed to make sure students are not failing to meet the grade requirement. • Available tutoring will be mandatory for cheerleaders who are falling close to the cut off.

  5. Physical and Insurance • All cheerleaders must have a current physical exam and medical insurance on file. • It is your responsibility to know when your physical expires- 1 year from date of completion. • It is your responsibility to notify the office of any change in insurance.

  6. Games and Practices • You will be required to cheer all football games and all basketball games (unless it is an emergency there will be no exceptions). • You are required to be at all cheer practices. Two times a week during seasons 1 time a week out of season • Every day when prepping for competition!

  7. Fundraisers • As a cheerleader, you will be asked to participate in every fundraiser. • You are responsible for all monies collected for fundraisers. • What you lose, you are responsible for.

  8. Rules • You must read and abide by all the rules set forth in the cheerleading rule packet. • Parents and cheerleaders are asked to sign acknowledging rules because as Coaches we are only half the support system of our cheerleaders.

  9. Attendance • All football games and all home basketball games • Cheerleaders must stay after school for all away football games, bring a bag dinner, & must report at 5:00pm for all home games. • Home BB games are right after school • Cheerleading season is from tryouts through BASKETBALL SEASON (May-March). • We like to have one parent volunteer per event, if you are interested in signing up to be that parent please let us know.

  10. Absences • Coaches must be notified in person, email or by phone if you will not be at a scheduled game or practice. DO NOT tell another cheerleader to notify your coach for you. • To be considered excused the absence must meet the LMS attendance policy. • All other absences must be pre-approved at least two days in advance. • This also applies to leaving practice early. • Leaving practice or a game early for other practices or games outside of LMS will not be excused.

  11. Competition • We will compete so girls should plan on deciding IF they will compete OR participate in another sport • Cheerleaders may participate in one other sport during the cheer season and still maintain a presence on the squad • If the sport you choose conflicts with competitive practice you will be required to attend mandatory Saturday practices.   12. Dress Code for Practice • Shorts with sliders under • T-shirt • cheer shoes & socks • Part of cheerleading package • Hair must be out of the face in a ponytail • No: • Jewelry • chewing gum • Fingernail polish • Fake fingernails • Undergarments showing in any way

  13. Dress Code for Games or Performances • Proper Uniform with poms • Light makeup- if any *We will do all-star makeup for one home football game • No: • Jewelry • chewing gum • Fingernail polish • Fake fingernails • Undergarments showing • Hair must be up in a ponytail with ribbon

  14. Uniforms • Uniforms will stay at LMS. • You will be sized & will not be allowed to switch sizes without the a Coach’s consent • When performances are over uniforms will be returned inside out for washing. • A Coach must sign that you have retuned the uniform on the uniform log!!! • If you lose or damage any of your cheer equipment / uniforms, you will be required to replace them.

  15. Demerits • Demerits will be issued for poor behavior. Accumulating 50 demerits will result in dismissal from the squad. Please see handout. • Teachers & Staff at LMS continually look to cheerleaders to be a ROAR role model for the LMS student body. If a Coach gets a positive email or comment expect a positive referral but if negative feedback comes in expect demerits.

  16. Reasons for Dismissal • Any cheerleader involved in any of the following activities on or off school campus will result in suspension or dismissal from the team: • Any illegal activity • Use or possession of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs. • Gross misconduct or excessive violation of school rules • Repeated disrespect or insubordination • Failure to attend practices • Any action which reflects negatively on the team • More than one suspension from a game can result in dismissal from the squad • Cheerleaders under suspension are still required to dress out and sit with the team through performances.
