  2. The Oaks • The Oaks have a mission to introduce and grow the sport of rugby in the San Ramon Tri-Valley area. • With this effort, special attention is given to building youth to young adults with life lessons of teamwork, challenge, and positive reinforcement.

  3. General Principles and Features • Provides children with a safe and enjoyable introduction to the skills and tactical principles of the game of Rugby Union. • Allow young players to be introduced to skills at a pace appropriate for their ages and physical development. • The essential feature of Rugby within the program is one of enjoyment. Irrespective of size, body shape or ability, players are given the opportunity to reach their potential in a caring, fun and safe environment. • Games provide the basic skills and understanding of set plays through the modified Scrum, Maul and Lineout situations. • The desirable qualities of rugby -- sportsmanship and fair play -- are positively rewarded, with reduced emphasis on competition. • At all times safety is a paramount consideration. The Laws of each level of the program have been specifically designed to foster a safe environment for both male and female players, while they learn relevant skills.

  4. Programs • The Program consists of 5 playing groups. • The Junior Varsity is made up of Freshmen and Sophomores in high school (18 to date) •  U-14 is primarily for 7th and 8th graders (23 to date) • U-12 is primarily for 5th, and 6th graders (20 now) • U-10 is primarily 3rd and 4th grade elementary grades (8) • U-8 (touch only) are for elementary school children. (5) • Total players to date 74

Board Representatives • President - Jon Straka • Program head for JV and U14 • Secretary – Peter Hawes • Program head for U12-U10-8 • Treasurer -Rob Harrison • Administration • Requesting a 5 person committee with parents as liaison to the board, act as disciplinary committee, organization aid • Each team must have a team manager/ volunteer

  6. Fields/Stuff • Mustang Soccer Complex is home field • Will also use DVMS, Sycamore and Athenian as needed • Have some sponsorship and attracting more for equipment • Uniforms Barbarian Profit Fit • Players have T shirts sweat Shirts etc –the town knows • Member of the Danville Chamber of Commerce

  9. Leagues 12-10-8 • Schedule for 12/10/8 is being draft now (Matt Taylor) and will follow a round robin concept • We are hoping to have 8-10 game days for each age group with 2-3 games per day • U10 as 10s or 7s &U12 will play in the Kickoff tournament Sacramento as 15 /side

Remember • This is all our club • We are hear to teach the game of rugby and life skills • Compete hard on the field eat and laugh with your competitor after the game • The is a Barbarian sport played by Gentlemen • The goal is to make a fun learning environment for all parents and families included • Coaches Need to have fun too. • Open communication is key – please if you have a playing time issue talk to the coaches privately – the goal is to have each player get about a ½ in • We will not intentionally put a player in harms way re-injury • Have Fun
