Causes of the Movement • Unfairness in the business of rates and farm shipping • Example: Rockefeller gets low rates while others who are starting get high rates
Goals • Get fairness among all business and farming transportations • to make reasonable rates for transportation
Reforms (Acts, Laws, etc.) • Hepburn Act • gave strong enforcement laws • Regulate railroad rates • Essential to both legislative and judicial • Interstate Commerce Act • Made the rates reasonable • Transportation Act of 1920 • Control of railroads to cooperate owners as of March, 1920
