Registration Process: Upcoming 9th • January 28: • Meet w/ students in Math classes • Hand out/discuss curriculum guide & registration form • January 28-30: • Students discuss w/ parents & teachers class selections & get form signed • January 30: • 8-9am & 2-3pm: Counselors available at TMS to answer parent/student individual questions • January 31: • Meet w/ counselors in Math classes to finalize and turn in registration form Curriculum Guide P.1
Registration Process: Upcoming 10th-12th • Day 1: • Meet w/ students in English classes • Hand out/discuss curriculum guide & registration form • Days 2-3: • Students discuss w/ parents & teachers class selections & get form signed • Day 3: • Counselors available in hall outside English classes to discuss individual options and questions • Day 4: • Students turn in completed form Curriculum Guide P.1
Then What? • April :Verification forms given to students (list of the classes selected to double-check correct) • April 30: Last day to turn in verification forms if changes requested • May 1-June 14: Request changes but subject to Administrator approval & $10 fee • No changes by phone/email • Must complete a schedule change form • After June 14: NO SCHEDULE CHANGES Curriculum Guide P.1
Vals/Sals • Class of 2014: • Valedictorian: • Advanced Diploma • Any student w/ 4.0 GPA or higher (w/o rounding) • Salutatorian: • Advanced or Standard Diploma • Any student w/ 3.80-3.99 GPA (w/o rounding) • Class of 2015 & 2016: • Valedictorian: • Advanced Diploma • One student with the highest GPA • Salutatorian: • Advanced Diploma • One student with the 2nd highest GPA • Honor Graduate: • Advanced or Standard Diploma • 4.0 GPA or higher or top 5% of class • May be multiple students Class of 2017: Same as previous class except no diploma type differences. Diploma Options: Class of 2014-2016 Students can earn: • Alabama High School Diploma with Advanced Academic Endorsement Advanced Academic Endorsement With Merit -2 AP courses Advanced Academic Endorsement With Honors -3 AP courses Advanced Academic Endorsement With Distinction -4 AP courses Advanced Academic w/ Career and Technical Endorsement -3 or more career tech credits • Alabama High School Diploma with no endorsement • Alabama High School Diploma with Career and Technical endorsement • Alabama High School Diploma with Credit-based Endorsement • Class of 2014 only as tied to the AHSGE Curriculum Guide P.3

Diploma Change:Class of 2017 • ALSDE has just last week adopted 1 diploma type: The Alabama High School Diploma • SCBOE can add additional requirements but due to the time constraints this has NOT yet been decided

GPS Time • “Guided Practice Study” Time • Occurs during 7th period in 8 period day • Initially used for studying • Other advantages: tutoring, grad exam remediation, credit recovery, extra time for specialty electives • AHSGE math/reading remediation take priority over all other options
