Non-Fiction Text Features -Title Page -Table of Contents -Body or Main Text -Photographs -Glossary -Index There are many features in a non-fiction text that will help the reader better understand the topic you are reading and learning about.
Title Page • Title-This tells us what we will be reading about. • Author-The person or group of people who wrote the book or text. • Publisher-This is the company that prints the copies of the books we read • Where published- This tells us where (the city or state) the book was published in.
TABLE OF CONTENTS • The table of contents tells us what chapter we can find specific information in and what page we should go to. • This helps us understand the main idea of each chapter before reading it! Click here to see an example…

Glossary • You can find the glossary at the end of a non-fiction book • A glossary includes the definitions of new or unfamiliar words that the author thinks you might have trouble with. • In a glossary, the words are listed in ABC order to help you find them easier
Index • This lists the names of important people and ideas for a quick reference. • Page numbers are included to help you find information easier.
