  2. Welcome to kindergarten Hello! In this presentation I will be informing you on what your children will be learning in my classroom this year and what is expected to be achieved by the end of the school year. I am looking forward to a great year with them!

  3. The basics • This year your child will learn: • The alphabet • How to count • Letter sounds • Interacting with other children • How to write • How to read • How to spell And many, many more!

  4. Ways of learning • I will use many different forms of teaching to introduce your child to these concepts. Some include: • One-on-one experiences • Classroom activities • Whole group • Through educational songs/videos • Physical activities(P.E.)

  5. Educational songs/videos • The following are links to a few of the educational songs/videos that I will be using in my classroom. These videos provide essential skills and seem like just fun songs to your child. • http://youtu.be/M-2NZhQjqNI • http://youtu.be/nnJVF2aeic8 • http://youtu.be/nHGYLqvfygE • http://youtu.be/uuHzYssjjGc

  6. The role of the parent A parent play a very important role in a kindergartener’s success. The more time you invest in your child’s learning, the more your child will benefit.

  7. Scale of learning over the year Your child will learn the bulk of his or her knowledge in the 1st quarter, which is 60%. The second quarter your child will learn 5% of his or her knowledge, the third quarter your child will learn 25% of his or her knowledge, and the fourth quarter your child will learn 10% of his or her knowledge.
