  5. Egyptian Architecture • Pyramids • Large tombs where past pharaohs are buried • Pyramid of Giza- one of the most popular pyramids built

  6. Facts: Did you know? • The pyramid took about 10,000 people to build • The pyramids used to be shinier with polished limestone • There are about 135 pyramids found in Egypt • It took about 2,300,000 blocks to build • Height was about 280 ft

  7. Why do you think it is a pyramid shape??

  8. Obelisks • Used as temple entrances • Mimicked in architecture today such as Washington Monument in Washington DC

  9. Washington Monument- built in honor of first US president- George Washington in mid 1800’s

  10. Art • Created to entertain dead in the afterlife • Also to please gods • Art covered temple walls tombs • Pottery and papyrus
