Our Planning • Linked to WP4 milestones (priority items) • Module mounting, ready to mount – Jan 15th 2012 • Full design of module transport and installation frame – Feb 2012 • 1st 130nm stave core complete – May 2012 • Conclusion on welding 2.2mm OD Ti – Feb 2012 • All materials used in core tested and documented – Nov 2011 • Feasibility of Strawman V14 services layout – Dec 2011 • Peripheral Activities (need to balance effort to make sure milestones are covered) • Global Engineering • Structures • Locking points • Stave thermo-mechanical properties • ESPI Quality Workshop / AUW / Long-term Planning
Long-term Planning • ATLAS Upgrade (2) Letter of Intent (LOI) • ITK SC (plenary) • 5th-6th October (i.e. right now!) • https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=145471 • Discussion on LOI • LOI Format • Relatively short (100) pages for all ATLAS • Back-up documents (discussion on-going) • Proposal from Berkeley Meeting • Physics Motivations & performance specifications • Technical Description of Upgraded Tracker Quality Workshop / AUW / Long-term Planning
Technical Back-up Document • Motivation (short summary, points to other document) (5) • General Requirements (10) • performance, schedule, radiation, material, safety • Layout (benchmark and options) (10) • Overall Performance (of this layout) (10) • Pixel System (50) • Strip System (50) • Trigger (10) • Readout System (20) • Engineering: Common Aspects (25) • Engineering: Integration and Installation (25) • Organization and Boundary Conditions (10) • Resources (10) Quality Workshop / AUW / Long-term Planning
UK Build Programme • TUMM has been changed with developing a proposal for the scope of any Stage 2 ATLAS Upgrade build • STFC want to know where we’re heading • Important for groups to write Rolling Grant bids for next year • TUMM proposal will go to ATLAS-UK CB (end October?) • Assumption is that the total (i.e. WP2-5) should be about the same (in flat cash terms) as the SCT build - £27M + 60sy/y Quality Workshop / AUW / Long-term Planning
Help Needed ! • Where possible (URGENTLY) need to build parts flow and effort models for as much as possible! • Please look at your task area and give (me) any input you can! Quality Workshop / AUW / Long-term Planning
