  1. Internet survival guide Sarah Clarke, Block 5, I.T. 9 Nov. 5, 2013

  2. What many people don’t know, or understand, is every time they log into an account or simply go on the internet, they are in danger. Knowing facts about the risks of using the internet will not only keep you safe, but also those around you. Issues like cyber bullying and identity theft are constantly occurring, and everyone is a victim. Even still, there are ways to protect against these reoccurring problems. Knowing how to protect yourself will be very helpful for now, and years to come. Internet Safety is important Internet safety this way

  3. Never share personal information such as name, age, birthday, or where you live Know who can see your posts on social media sites Use privacy settings Don’t respond to threatening emails or messages Take what you hear and see on the internet with a grain of salt. Not everyone is telling the truth Top Five Rules to internet safety

  4. Definition: Ergonomics is the study of how resourceful and effective something is in its work environment. Ergonomics is relevant to everyone due to the fact that every object that we encounter should be ergonomic in their work environment. This means the couch in a families living room, or the frying pan in their kitchen. Devices that anyone can use. Though this is true, employers and employees should be especially concerned with ergonomics. If items used in the workplace are not ergonomically sufficient, then workers are at risk of injury, and will not work efficiently since they are uncomfortable. Ergonomics: Using the right tools

  5. There are many long term and short term consequences to working in a workspace that is not ergonomic. One short term affect that may occur is irritability and inability to focus due to the fact that the worker is uncomfortable. This results in less work getting done and the company not bringing in as much money (a long term affect). Also, headaches, migraines, and muscles soreness may follow after use of chairs, desks, and keyboards that are not ergonomic. There are several long term affects that occur after repeated use of supplies that are not ergonomic such as sever back, shoulder, neck and joint problems. The affected workers may be stuck with these issues for the rest of their lives and, in some case, there are no treatments. Not ergonomic work place

  6. Two items used for the same purpose in an office are regular desk chairs, and cushioned computer chair. Clearly, a desk chair is less ergonomic. This is because there is no cushioning to help the user stay comfortable. A cushioned computer chair will keep the worker relaxed and snug. This way they can work and not get distracted by a back ache. Muscle fatigue and soreness is sure to follow after a hard days work on a blue plastic chair. Also, most cushioned computer chairs can be adjusted for height differences. The user can alter how high or low the chair goes to maximize comfort. With a blue chair, what you see is what you get. Lastly, arm rests attached to the sides of computer chairs allow the workers arms to stay relaxed and shoulders down. This will prevent shoulder and back soreness. Blue plastic chairs do not have arm rests, so the users arms will be tensed and cramp up. Ergonomics: Chair comparison

  7. Intellectual property is someone’s individual ideas or thoughts that they own buy law (copy right and patents) What is intellectual property

  8. legal Illegal In some cases, file sharing is legal in Canada. For example, if you download music onto a medium, and use it for personal reasons, this is legal. In other situations, file sharing is completely against the law. These situations include if the downloader copies music or other media, and then sells it for their own profit. File sharing in Canada

  9. In my opinion, file sharing should not be legal. When a person shares a file with someone else, they are not giving the owner credit for all the hard work and time put in to make that file. No matter what type of media is shared, the owner will not be rewarded for it. Also, as of 2010, music sales went down by 7.4% in Canada, the second lowest to Spain. This is directly connected people in Canada file sharing. Not only is the artist losing money, so is their producer or record label depending on what kind of media is being downloaded. All in all, the deserving artist loses money whether the downloader saves or profits (from illegally selling). Since file sharing is inconsiderate and harmful to others, I believe it should be illegal in Canada. File sharing opinion

  10. www.chatterhigh.com Chatter High is a website made by experienced professionals, for inexperienced students. Through fun daily quizzes, members are informed on different programs available at universities all over British Columbia. The quizzes are where the website user will find and absorb information. Even though the website is trying to convince its viewer to go to a school in B.C., it is still authoritative because it gives straight from the source information. 1) Chatter high

  11. www.checkmymark.com Check my mark is an organized and private website that allows parents, students, and teachers easy access to the student’s marks. This website is authoritative because the marks entered and percentages stated are based on how well the student does in the class; no one can render the marks based on opinion. 2) check my mark

  12. www.hc-sc.gc.ca Canada’s food guide shows kids of all ages what they should be eating to maintain a healthy body and mind. This is very beneficial, especially to growing teenagers who need proper nutrition to develop and live out a good life. Canada’s food guide is completely based on facts and lab research making it an authoritative website. Canada’s food guide

  13. www.khanacademy.org This website has thousands of videos covering all school subjects. Students can observe more closely what they learned that day in school, and didn’t quite understand. The site is not only helpful to high school students, but also young adults entering university, or someone coming back into the class room after twenty years. Though I couldn’t watch every video on the website, I would have to assume they are all authoritative due to the fact that every video is teaching facts. It is not bias in any way. 4) Khan academy
