  4. Language Arts • - Based on whole class and flexible grouping • Interactive and cooperative • Promotes higher level thinking • Helps meet individual needs and interests

  5. 6th Grade • Reading – More Independence! • More for Enjoyment • More Variety- non-fiction, poetry, biography, magazines, newspaper • Conferences • Students are an integral part- THEY MUST ATTEND. • We will Start Soon (but not tonight!)

  7. Everyday Math • Workbooks- Journals • Student Reference Book (SRB) • Activities & Games • Quizzes & Tests • Homework – S.L. • Family Letter

  8. Social Studies Current Events • Text • Egypt • Greece • Rome • Projects • Tests

  9. Student Responsibilities • Report to school on time- start 9:00am • Bring all materials to class- responsibility • Be an active participant in the learning process • Keep an assignment book/agenda

  10. Student Responsibilities • Complete homework and assignments on time!

  11. Student Responsibilities • Follow class/school rules • Respect the rights of others • Maintain a positive attitude at all times • Cell phones must be turned offand in the student’s book bag. Please call the office to contact your child during the school day if needed.

  12. When Absent • *Make arrangements to have work sent home • *Complete as much work as you can • *Bring an excuse blank • *Hand in all make-up work • *See teacher when you return and if you do not understand an assignment • *Do all work within the time allowed…one day for each day absent

  13. Help is Available • -During homeroom time (9:00 – 9:15) • -During recess • -At end of day during dismissal • -By special appointment • see individual teacher

  14. When you have questions: -Ask your child for clarification -Write a note to the teacher- agenda or email -Call the teacher at 215-368-4017 between 8:30 and 8:50 am and 3:40 to 3:50 pm -Occasional email updates sent from team -Our e-mails are available online in the Oak Park or district website
