  1. Dinaledi Golf Society Code of Conduct

  2. The Code at a Glance

  3. The Code • Subscription are payable in full at the end of March each year • Confirming attendance and not showing up is disrespectful • All members should arrive for the game 20 minutes before the first Tee-off and not 20 minutes before their specific Tee-off • Society correspondence should be addressed at the latest within 7 days of receipt • Only the Society officials should handle score-cards and announce results • All members must wear the right uniform at our games and use the new golf bags

  4. How the Code will Work

  5. Four Pillars to Our Code • Membership of Dinaledi is Voluntary • The Dinaledi Proposition • What Members Could Offer • The Most Common Misdemeanours • The Simple Rules • Short-term Remedies • How the process works • Long-term Measures • The appeals process

  6. The Dinaledi Proposition • Dinaledi offers the following: • Voluntary membership of a social golfing network • A well run society with simple rules • The best courses and good entertainment • An opportunity to improve ones game • Competition in the society and with other formations • A chance to our families to extend their contacts • A network to explore for personal, business and professional interests • Membership of a group known for its humility

  7. What members Could Offer • Adherence to Simple Rules: • Paying annual and other dues on time • Treating club correspondence seriously • Time-keeping at games and other events • Showing up for set games • Non interference with work of elected officials • Respecting the Society they joined voluntarily • Submitting to its codes and discipline • Leaving the club if rules prove difficult

  8. Our Common Misdemeanours • The above rules constitute our code of conduct • Transgression of this code is currently widespread • This makes managing the club stressful • Some behaviour threatens the economic viability of the Society • Some compromise the image of the Society and that of individual members • Corrective measures are necessary

  9. Who administers discipline? • The Management Committee assumes responsibility for enforcing the Code • It already has set formal meetings • The Society is not too big to warrant a special team to administer the Code • Given the voluntary nature of the Society, the need for a separate committee is unlikely

  10. Short –term Remedies • Transgressing the code three (3) times constitutes unbecoming behaviour. • Said member is sanctioned: • For two games the member assumes the status of a visitor • Pays for his rounds of golf • Scores zero for one of the games • Is reflected in “The Roll of Shame” on the web-site and this attracts mention at the Annual Gala Dinner • Note: Failure to pay by end of March cancels ones membership automatically

  11. Long-term Measures • Member has two short-term sanctions in a continuous period of twelve(12) months • Member’s continued membership of the Society is reviewed • Like with prospective members, current members vote on the continuation of errant member’s status in the Society • Financial matters of the member are debated and resolved • Review process, if any, is agreed and communicated to the member
