List EVERYTHING you know and can think of about that character. Now, go back and think about each one of those. HOW do you know that character is ______? Make a note beside several, telling HOW YOU KNOW.

Character Traits Character Traits: The details that tell about a character’s personality. ***They are NOT physical descriptions, actions, or jobs.*** To find character traits, look at what the AUTHOR says (description) & what the CHARACTER does (actions), says (dialogue). Then, translate those things into TRAITS. Ex: Because Wile E. Coyote plays tricks on the Roadrunner, I know he is sly.
