  17. Nebraska ACT Performance Definitions ACT Benchmark Students that meet or exceed the ACT College Readiness Benchmark are equipped to enroll (without remediation) and succeed in a credit-bearing first-year course at a two-year or four-year institution, trade school, or technical school. Students have at least a 50% chance of getting a B or better and a 75% chance of getting C or better in a first-year related content course. On Track On Track students are approaching the ACT College Readiness Benchmark and are likely to be able to access credit-bearing first-year related content course at some Nebraska postsecondary institutions without remediation. Developing Students in the Developing Level are likely to need developmental courses before being able to access credit-bearing first-year courses in the majority Nebraska postsecondary institutions.

  18. ACT Cut Scores

  19. Additional Information In order to increase the chances of success after high school, students are encouraged to: • engage in rigorous course work during their senior year • take part in a wide range of career exploration activities • build on existing strengths and address challenge areas • work with adults to plan for college, career, and civic life • gain work or volunteer experiences • participate in activities beyond the classroom

  20. Concerns Parents/Schools • High scores before the state ACT date- • If student took writing and is at least On Track for MC, NDE will take the score. • Multiple test-taking • Struggling students • Activities on day of testing

  21. NSCAS Alternate Assessment

  22. Alternate Assessment 2017-18 • Alternate Reporting for 2017-2018 • August 2-3: State Board of Education Approve Cut Scores for Alt. Math (rest of the dates are based off the successful approval) • August 10: Post Reports Interpretive Guide & Reports Recording • August 13: District Access to Final Reports and Data Files • August 29: Deliver Printed Individual Student Reports (ISRs)

  23. Alternate Assessment 2018-2019 • Little Change! The following information is consistent with 2017-2018 • Vendor • DRC • Testing platform and formats • INSIGHT and eDIRECT, online and paper/pencil options • Grade levels • 3-8 & 11 for ELA and Math • 5, 8, & 11 for Science • Content areas and alignment of assessments • CCR Math • CCR ELA • Legacy Science

  24. Alternate Assessment 2018-2019 • Notes • NDE will be reviewing the percentage of student that took the Alternate: Only 1% of the state allowed • Make sure Alternate Assessment Flag is marked correctly • For nonresponsive students: a test proctor does not need to click through the entire test, the No Response flag needs to be marked in eDIRECT • Receive no materials for the NSCAS Alternate Assessment-everything is online and then printed. (All printed material must be destroyed at the end of testing)

  25. NSCAS Balanced Assessment Supports

  26. TestWiz 2018-2019 • Continue to have access for grade 3-8 • Districts can contract with Certica for other grades • Still have access to Navigate and Check4Learning (C4L) Item Banks • C4L Math items are being realigned and will also be accessible • Questions in ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies

  27. TestWiz 2018-2019 • Districts can already start accessing the TestWiz system • Most of the accounts will rollover automatically • If you have new users that need accounts, fill out the “TestWiz User Account Setup” spreadsheet that is downloaded in the “Getting Started” section or just contact Certica for help. • If you used AutoRoster feature last year, please make sure your system is still delivering roster files to Certica nightly. Use these files to populate your 18-19 school year student rosters.

  28. TestWiz 2018-2019 • Certica is working with NDE and will soon have access to the Nebraska Ed-Fi ODS. This will replace the need to have AutoRoster for each district. • Training sessions have been scheduled as a refresher in addition to the training videos. Schedule will be published in the bi-weekly emails from NWEA. • Certica has added single sign-on support to TestWiz so user can easily login using ESUCC Portal. Will include information in the bi-weekly email when this is enabled

  29. TestWiz 2018-2019 • Encourage districts to explore potential use. • How can this tool support your district in providing a balanced assessment system?

  30. Changes in District Personnel

  31. District Assessment Contact Changes • Superintendents must submit forms • Assessment Office has a table and we have forms available today. • Also, update Nebraska Technology Assessment Contact (NTAC) and/or principals so that we can provide security documents later this year.
