KICs – 5 „must” conditions • Having already existing excellence in mind, the potential for growth must be decisive factor for the KICs choice – hence the active presence of NMS is an absolute must. Here the EIT will not be just a mere addition, but shall have a very strong positive leverage effect. • To be successful, the KICs creation should be an essential part of a regional development strategy, as this may also assure larger and easier to gather resources. • KICs should from the outset amalgamate with the local knowledge community. • The initial number of 3 KICs should be increased as soon as the will and resources give assurance to their quality and stability. • The attraction of young talents should start as soon as possible, even before a formal setting of the KICs. It can be done via dedicated named EIT grants. We are ready for that.
