What exactly is Outbound? • This is an outstanding opportunity for you to take a large field trip and travel to where history was made! • We are making available to you the opportunity to explore America’s Colonial Period by visiting one of two important Colonial locations in our country that were instrumental in the development of the United States of America!

  3. Where will we go?You will have a Choice… • Bostonarea in Massachusetts or the * Williamsburgarea in Virginia

  4. When will WE go? • Your 3 or 4 day Colonial Outbound trip will take place … • Boston: Wednesday- Saturday, October 10, 11, 12, and 13, 2018 • Williamsburg: Thursday – Saturday, October 11, 12, and 13, 2018

  5. Boston, MassachusettsFour days and three nights of history and fun! • Wednesday • leave Dallastown at 1:00 PM • Fast Food Dinner • at Vincent Lombardi rest stop - We will be staying at Hotel 1620 in Plymouth, Massachusetts – near Plymouth Rock! Hotel 1620

THURSDAY on the Boston trip • Begin the day with buffet breakfast at the hotel • Visit Plimouth Plantation • Lunch (not included in price) • Tour Jenney Grist Mill • Boat ride to catch lobsters and explore aquatic life • Dinner at Lobster Hut • Movie at Patriot Cinema 1627 PlimouthVillage Jenney Grist Mill

USS Constitution FRIDAYin Boston • Buffet breakfast at hotel • Explore the Boston Freedom Trail • Boston Tea Party Ship • Lunch and shopping at Quincy Market • (not included in price) • Paul Revere’s House • Old North Church • Bunker Hill Monument • Dinner at Papa Gino’s • Bowling at Alley Kat

  8. SATURDAY – the Boston trip • A day of travel as we head home! • Buffet breakfast at the hotel • Lunch (not included in the price) • Arrive back at Dallastown 5:30 PM

Colonial Williamsburg THURSDAY * Leave Dallastown at 6:30 AM • CiCi’s Pizza Lunch in Virginia • Guided Tour of Colonial Williamsburg • Dinner at a Colonial Tavern • One of several evening programs at Colonial Williamsburg. • Evening hotel Social Time

Jamestown National Historic Site FRIDAY in Williamsburg • Begin with a breakfast buffet at hotel. • Explore the Jamestown Historic site Glass House and archeological dig. • Visit Busch Gardens Amusement Park… including their “Hallo-Scream” Halloween activities (Alternative Activity for those who don’t like the Halloween Activities) • Dinner at the amusement park Busch Gardens Amusement Park

SATURDAY in Williamsburg • Begin with breakfast buffet at hotel. • Explore Jamestown • Fort • Powhattan Indian Village • 3 ships (Susan Constant, Discovery and Godspeed) Jamestown Fort • Dallastown American Legion Post 605 BBQ Lunch on the Beach • Visit the Yorktown Victory Center and • Revolutionary War Camp • *Restaurant Dinner on the way home • *arrive back at Dallastown at 8:30 PM Yorktowne Victory Center

Okay, what’s it going to cost? • The cost for either trip will be: $430.00 • For Williamsburg, everything is included in the price, except for souvenirs. • For Boston, you will need to pay for an additional 4 meals and souvenirs. • For both trips, we will be asking for a $100.00 deposit MAY 2, 3, 4

  14. Financially Preparing for the trip. • We understand that our trip may present a hardship to some of our families if they were not informed that this is on the horizon. That is why we are sharing this information with our Dallastown families early. It is our hope that this early introduction will enable students to consider how their behavior impacts their participation as well as helping families to plan for the financial end of this Outbound experience. • Financial assistance is available through an application process. If interested, please see Mr. Ellis in person, your 7th grade history teacher or guidance counselor.

  15. Who Gets to Go? • At this point EVERYONE! • However, we want to make a good name for Dallastown and will not take people who have trouble behaving. • In order to be included YOU MUST… • Finish 7th grade with at least a 65% in ALL your subjects • NOT be placed in ISS for more than one incident during your 7th grade year • NOT be placed in OSS at all during your 7th grade year • Pass a Guidance / Administration review prior to going on the trip in October. • AND continue with good behavior in 8th grade next year

  16. For those who do not go… • For Students who do NOT QUALIFY to attend this exciting Outbound experience, or who, by their own choice, decide not to go… • You will have a modified school schedule on Thursday and Friday. (Classes will be combined for students not going ) • This schedule will include many colonial activities so that you too can dive into this period of time in greater detail.

  17. Officially, what is next? • Work hard to maintain good grades. • THINK BEFORE YOU ACT! – Your behavior is your ticket to participate.

  18. Talk to your friends…your familyand decide what trip you wish to apply for. Bring your application and $100 deposit to school on May 2, 3, and 4th Eighth Grade Teachers will be in the main lobby collecting your papers.

  19. ANY QUESTIONS? If your parents have general questions about the trip, they can be directed to any of the 8th Grade Social Studies Teachers.
