Poem Or Shot Story • Domestic violence should not happen to anybody. Ever. Period. But is does- and when it does, there is help. Statistics about domestic violence • 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their life. • 13% of teen girls who have been in a relationship being hit. • 26% of teen girls in a relationship reported verbal abuse. • A Study of 8th and 9th graders found that 25% has been victims of nonsexual dating violence. • 1 in 4 teen girls who have been in a relationship report that they were pressured into performing oral sex or engaging in sexual activity.
What domestic violence is • Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. • The Abuse is: • sexual • emotional • economic • psychological actions
Warning signs • Phase 1: Tension- Building tension begins to ride, the abuser become edgy and more prone to react negatively to frustrations. • Phase 2: Battering- The actual act of violence or emotional outbreaks' in which the abuser gains control only after he/she has taught the victim “a lesson”. • Phase 3: Quiet/ Loving Phase- Tension is decreased and the abuser behaves in a contrite, loving manner while denying the extend of pain and fear the victim is experiencing.
Tips to have a healthy relationship • Talk to your partner about any problems you have encountered. • Listen to what your partners says without judging. • Understanding emotionally • Change you behavior to a better one. • Admitting your wrong at appropriate times • Mutually agreeing on fail distribution of work • Mutually agreeing on decisions.
