At the end of P5 syllabus teaching, pupils should be able to • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of scientific facts, concepts and principles • apply scientific facts and concepts to new situations • use process skills such as observing, classifying and comparing. Syllabus
Science Curriculum and Aim The Science curriculum seeks to nurture the student as an INQUIRER. End Goal Students to enjoy science and value science as an important tool in helping them explore their natural and physical world.
Attitude in Science It is important to have the right attitude in Science learning. The Science programmes aims to develop pupils’ curiosity, teamwork, perseverance, initiative and responsibility
Life Science Topics (P5 Standard Science) Life cycles, reproduction in plants and human/animals Plant system-Plant parts, functions , respiratory and circulatory systems Human system- digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems Cell system Diversity of living things (General characteristics and classification) -P3 Energy in Food and Forms of energy The P5 Examination papers may include P3/4 topics. Pupils will be notified and topics will be revised again.
Physical Science Topics (P5 Standard Science) Cycles in matter and water Electrical system Energy (heat and light) -P4 Diversity of non-living things (General characteristics and classification)-P3 The P5 Examination papers may include P3/4 topics. Pupils will be notified and topics will be revised again.

PSLE / Semestral Exam Format (Standard Science) • Booklet A (60 marks) • Multiple-Choice Questions • 30 Questions - 2 marks each Exam Format • Booklet B (40 marks) • Open-ended • 14 Questions-2, 3 or 4 marks per question Duration of paper- 1 hour 45 minutes
PSLE / Semestral Exam Format (Foundation Science) • Booklet A (32 marks) • Multiple-Choice Questions • 16 Questions - 2 marks each Exam Format • Booklet B (38 marks) • Structured Questions (Short Qns) 14m (6-8 qns : 2-3 marks per qn) • Open-ended questions (Long Qns) 24m (6-8 qns : 2-4 marks per qn) Duration of paper- 1 hour 15 minutes
Science Practical Test • Will be held in Term 3 • assess scientific concepts, skills and processes

Topics to be tested for Term 1 Test (Standard Science) 50 marks – 1 hr Systems - Unit of Life Cycles – Reproduction in Human and Plants 15 MCQ (30 marks) 7 Open-ended (20 marks)
Topics to be tested for Term 1 Test (Fdn Science) 35 marks – 45 min Cycles – Reproduction in flowering plants - Reproduction in human 10 MCQ (20 marks) 5 Open-ended (15 marks)
Helping Children in Science • Spirit of scientific inquiry – Ask more questions (Why? How? What happen?) • Read more Science books or magazines • Practise • Relate concepts to real life examples
